A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL:

A note from a principal should be scholarly and give reassurance that the school is educationally sound. I can do that in a heartbeat, but I would rather tell you why our school is sound and why we are so fortunate.

The reason is very simple. It is the people who make this a school, who believe in children, who walk that extra mile and never begrudge any effort. It is the people who believe that we all learn from mistakes and we all begin with a fresh slate. It is the minds that believe that everyone can learn and can become a better person with guidance and nurturing. It is the hearts that believe that they can make a difference in the lives of children. In case you don't know, our teachers and staff are all of that and more. These people have chosen to give their professional lives to children and to these children's futures.  Take a look at their names and how they feel about teaching.

It is important to us that our school be open and welcoming--that each person who enters our doorways feels warm and a part of all we do. It is important that our parents know their value--that it is only when we work together that we can achieve the best for each child. It is important that our parents know how much we appreciate their efforts and understand their pressures and concerns--and to know that we will work together to find solutions. =

My personal beliefs are all tied up in a few words. I believe in the inherent worth of every child. I believe that I have a tremendous responsibility to help children make right decisions. I believe that I need to listen to each person and respect that person--even if I disagree. I believe that teachers, parents, and children need to know that I am there for them as individuals and that I will do my best to insure that our children are growing, learning, and seeking to become and do the best that is within. I believe that the impact we have on children is exhilarating, challenging, and sometimes scary, and that it cannot be taken lightly. I believe that every word out of my mouth and every action I take teaches a lesson. I believe that working with children is pure joy and holds unbelievable accountability. I do not take any part of this lightly. I am thankful to have spent a lifetime working with, and learning from, children and my fellow teachers.
